Bryson City is located on Deep Creek just outside of Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North, Carolina. I think its main attractions are the Smoky Mountains Railroad, Deep Creek in the Park, and the Nantahala River, one of America’s most popular “White Water” destinations.
It’s close to Fontana Lake where you will need to go to fish Hazel Creek and other streams that are in Great Smoky Mountains that are across the lake. It’s also near Cherokee, North Carolina and Harrah’s Casino, if you’re into gambling. It’s also near the Blue Ridge Parkway and the curvy “Dragon” located at Deal’s Gap.
Bryson City has lots of quaint motels, private rental cabins, cottages and several nice country inns, lodges, and bed and breakfasts rentals. If you’re interested in fishing Deep Creek, one of the better brown trout streams in the park for an extended time, Bryson City would be our first choice of places to stay.
