1.   Blue-winged Olives
2.   Little Black Winter Stoneflies
3.   Streamers - matching sculpin, baitfish and small crayfish
4.   Midges

For some reason, I skipped the mighty midge and got ahead of myself on the basics
of trout food series but not for long. This is probably the most little know of all the
aquatic insects that trout feed on. This is certainly true of the streams in Great
Smoky Mountains National Park. This article focuses on
why midges are
considered a cold water trout food.
