Smoky Mountains Fishing Report
I have mentioned that sometimes the higher elevations of the Smokies get a lot more rain than the foothills
and valley areas. Since there are not any major towns or cities at high elevations in the Smokies, the local
forecast are always for the valleys. What I usually don't mention is that sometimes the National Weather
Forecast is just outright wrong and worthless. That has been the case the last two days. They missed the
amount of precipitation big time. They predicted about a half inch of rain and a little snow and there has
been fairly heavy snow amounts in the mountains and as much as 2 inches of rain within the last 2 days.
The streams were all high and not safe to wade yesterday. Hopefully, they will fall down enough to wade by

I have talked to a few customers that fished some during the past week. I haven't talked to anyone that was
satisfied with the results of it. The weather has been very cold most of the time during the past few days.
One local gentleman reported catching two trout one day. Another one fished this weekend without catching
a trout. Another gentleman that fished this past weekend reported catching two. One key to the low numbers
of fish caught is that neither person I talked to fished over an hour or two. The low catches were mostly a
result of their just not wanting to brave the elements. That's quite understandable. The wind has been
howling 30-40 mph, or it has been raining or snowing most of the time. There was 2 inches of snow in our
front yard yesterday morning. Hopefully, we are nearing the end of old man winter. I did talk to some anglers
that did well on the stockers in the local tailwaters.

To heck with the National Weather Forecast experts. A White House dictator probably directed them to mess
the forecast up. I say the weather is going to be great within another day or two and stay that way for a few
