Fishing Tales - Angie's Third Trout
I hope my wife Angie doesn't happen to notice today's article. If she does, she will get a little upset. I think the
video is great but it embarrasses her.
The video was taken in 1998 of her catching not only the third
trout she caught in the park, but the third trout she had ever caught.

She gets upset because she knows she shouldn't have picked the trout up out of the water like she did
because it could have broken the tippet. I think she did an excellent job being it was the third trout she had
ever caught.

I will assure you after spending a lifetime of fishing and almost a life time (since 1980) of catching fish on-
camera, that few men or women would have matched her performance at that stage. This is especially true
when it comes to knowing it was being captured on professional video equipment. She quickly realized she
shouldn't be picking it up out of the water and as you can see, lowered the trout back down in the water when
she unhooked and released it.

I'm not going to speculate on the size of this rainbow, even though I know I can get within a half inch of its
length. I'll let you be the judge of it's size. We will never know the exact size for absolute certain because she
quickly released it. I don't think I have to tell anyone very familiar with the wild rainbows in the park that it was
a very big one, especially considering it was caught in a small, high elevation stream.

The video is a part of an old promo done back in 2002 for our fly fishing DVD series. Yesterday, I put the
video on "youtube" for the first time. For years, due to the fact the online video such as "youtube" wasn't
capable of showing the quality of our DVD, I refused to put anything online. Fairly recent technology has
improved the quality of online video enough that I will be putting about 40 promos and trailers of our fly
fishing DVD on "youtube" as well as some other video media outlets.

I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I do. Just don't tell Angie I did this. She fly fished on-camera on
over 150 major trout streams in 44 states for eight consecutive years ranging from 150 to as many as 220
days per years. She has fished less for last few years since managing Perfect Fly but still goes when she
can. We have many hours of footage showing she has caught a few trout. The video of her that I'm referring
to starts about three-fourths of the way though this two-minute, twenty second promo.
