Current Conditions in the Smokies:
I'm sure most of you know that it is cold in the Southeastern United States and will
continue to stay cold for at least a few more days. It was 17 degrees in Pigeon
Forge this morning with a predicted high of 35 for today. It has been snowing some
and we have about a 40% chance of snow for most of today. Mount Leconte is
completely white with 14 inches of snow. It had a low of -5 and a high of 7 degrees
yesterday. Even when it does turn warm, the streams will remain very cold for a
good while due to melting snow. From a fishing perspective, all of this is good for
the future.  According to AccuWeather, highs of about freezing and lows of around
16 will remain par for the course in Gatlinburg until about the 12th of the month
when things should return to more normal seasonal temperatures with highs in the
40's and 50's.

Destinations: The East Walker River, California
Since we visited Hot Creek yesterday, we might as well stay and look at another
river in the same area. The
East Walker River is a tailwater located in both the
states of California and Nevada.
