Fly Fishing for Trout - Instructional Videos (DVD) - Part 4
Continued from yesterday
Update on the status of the Smokies:
We have only been able to fish for a short period of time (about an hour each time) on three
different days this past week. Each time we were able to catch a few trout and on one afternoon,
two very nice ones. Fishing conditions have been excellent all month.
We released "Getting Started" for our third fly fishing for trout DVD. I am still not
certain that we gave it the best name we could have selected for it. The name alone
insinuates the video could be about learning to cast, find and catch fish, when it is
more about understanding the gear, (fly lines and leader/tippet designations, fly
rods, reels, etc) and selecting the gear and tackle you need for your particular
needs. We covered not only trout fishing, but all other freshwater and saltwater fly
fishing. At the time our intentions were, and still are, to release a 2 disc, 4 hour long
DVD on the "Basics of Fly Fishing". That program is about finished but is presently
held up by yours truly because as usual, I have too many things going on at the
same time. I still have 4 new fly rod prototypes to test that I have had built from
scratch, including the blanks, along with other equipment and product I am working
on for our "Perfect Fly Company".
When the "Basics" DVD is complete, the "Getting Started DVD" will work together
with it to help anyone interested in learning to fly fish. The "Getting Started" DVD
helps anglers select the right gear for their particular use and need for any type of
fly fishing. It covers the purpose, functions and features including its construction
and materials. It doesn't get into individual manufacturers in any way but rather
provides the information necessary for anyone to make their own intelligent choices
about which manufacturer's makes and models they should select.
Covered and included in the "Getting Started" interactive menu of over 40
Fly Line: Function, designations, tapers, types, color and backing.
Leaders and Tippet: Function of leader and tippets, materials
Fly Rods: Function, components, descriptions, materials, selecting a fly rod
Fly Reels: Function, types, drags, materials, choosing a fly rod.

This video is one of our top selling DVD. It has scenes of over 30 different Blue
Ribbon streams across the nation.
