Park Opening This Morning at 8:00AM
Great Smoky Mountains National Park will be open this Wednesday morning at
8:00 AM.

Weather and Stream Conditions Forecast:
According to the National Weather Service, for Gatlinburg, there is a  30 percent
chance of showers after 2 PM today with a high near 70. Showers are likely
tonight, mainly after 2 AM. The chance of precipitation is 70%.

Showers are likely Thursday with a high near 66. The chance of precipitation is
90%. The chances are reduced to 30% for Thursday night.

Friday will feel more like fall weather. The high should only be around 62 with a low
Friday night of around 46.

There's only a 20 percent chance of showers for Saturday. It will be partly sunny,
with a high near 64 with a low Saturday night of about 43.

Sunday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 64 and a low that night of 42.

The streams are all running near normal for this time of the year which means they
are low. Little River is flowing at 91 cfs at 1.58 feet. Cataloochee Creek is low and
flowing at 47 cfs at 2.27 feet. Oconaluftee is flowing at 230 cfs at 1.30 feet. It is a
little higher than the other streams. Normal for it at this time is about a 140 cfs.
That doesn't mean it is high. That just means it isn't as low as the other streams in
the park with USGS stations.

With the much cooler weather, I though it might even snow at the highest
elevations in the park during the passing of the approaching cold front but
according to the
Mountains Weather Forecast, there isn't much difference in the
temperatures at the higher elevations than that of Gatlinburg. A little snow in the
higher elevations of the Smokies is normal in October but if the forecast is right, it
won't happen this week.

I will be back on the above schedule tomorrow with suggested Fly Fishing
Strategies.
