What Are The Rules For Great Smoky Mountains National
Park?
At 5:15 this morning, and for the past 7 days, the Great Smoky Mountains National
Park website said "all National Parks are closed".

That's obviously incorrect. People are being allowed in the park and by the
park rangers at some gates, so the Great Smoky National Park website isn't
correct. How can the park be closed if people are being allowed inside the park.

This is what the link from the Smoky Mountains National Park to the Department of
Interior says:

At 5:15 this morning, it says, Government Shutdown October, 2013. That is
correct.
The government has shutdown because you cannot find out anything
from anyone with the National Park Service except for a few Rangers with their
own "Gray" ideas.

At least some barricades along U. S. Highway #441 have been removed at the
pull- offs and parking areas. Whether this is being done by the park or others is
beyond my personal knowledge. According to this website, barricades are being
removed by Patriots.

Apparently, the park management is still on paid vacation. The volume of email I
am getting about this is unreal. That doesn't include the much heavier response of
email and calls I am getting from our Yellowstone website and much more so, our
Perfect Fly website. There are at least eleven more National Parks with trout
streams affecting our customers plans and activities.

The only thing I can figure out from this is the rules are, there are no
rules.
