Weather and Stream Conditions Forecast - Coming Week
We have some very nice weather headed our way this coming week. The
streams are still on the high side but they are falling and unless we get more rain than
is expected, they all should be safe to wade within a day or two.
Little River is flowing at 490 cfs and 2.7 feet high. (Up to 250 good wading levels,
250 - 400 wadable but use caution, 400 - 700 wading not recommended)
The Cataloochee Creek is flowing at 285 cfs and is 3.22 feet high. (Up to 125 good
wading levels, 125 -150 use caution, 150 to 250 not recommended)
The Oconaluftee River is flowing at 1100 cfs and is at 2.63 feet. (Up to 500 wadable,
500 to 700 high use caution, 700 to 900 wading not recommended).
Today's high should reach 47 in Gatlinburg with a low tonight around 35.
There is a 30 percent chance of rain later today and tonight. Tuesday's high should
be around 52 with a 20 percent chance of rain before noon. The low Tuesday night
will be about 31.
Wednesday's high will be near 53 with a low that night around 30. A slight chance of rain returns Thursday
with a high of 58. The chance of rain increase to 40% Thursday night with a low of only 39 degrees.
Friday's high should reach about 57 but with a 50% chance of rain. The low Friday night will be 39, not bad
for a winter night. This should help warm the streams up some.
Saturday's high should be near 55 degrees with a low that night of about 38. Sunday will be about the same
with a high near 56.
Unless we get more rainfall than is expected, both the stream conditions and weather conditions should be
excellent for this time of the year.
This is part 1 of a 4 part video trailer for "Fly Fishing Great Smoky Mountains National Park" that I put online
this past weekend. I hope to have all 4 parts of the video trailer completed this week. The 2 DVD Disc set
provides 4 hours of information and instructions on fly fishing the streams of the park.
