Back On Track, Hopefully
For the first time since I started this website, I took a short (three day) break in writing a daily
article. I did so to try to wrap up the design, materials, manufacturing and website work
involved in releasing new Perfect Fly product for the upcoming fly fishing year. Although I've
worked a good twelve hours a day for several straight days now, I failed to accomplish that. I
did manage to get a lot more done by focusing entirely on trying to wrap things up.

We thought our normal day-to-day business was slowing down some and that would help me
catch up on the new releases, but it turned out to be just the opposite of that. That's what i
get from looking at a short trend of just three days. The west coast and high Sierra trout
anglers seem to all agree the season is just getting started. The floor is completely covered
with orders shipping out today and there's plenty more to fill from last night. Angie does the
fulfillment but I'll probably have to help today. My problem is that I'm not smart enough to
determine if having good business is actually good or bad - for me, that is. During my lifetime
of owning my own businesses, It seems the only thing I haven't learned is that the better the
business is, the worse off I am.

If you happen to find there's a sudden lack of anything posted one day, it's either that I fell
dead, was hospitalized, or that I was guilty of doing something I did in my early years of
general contracting - went fishing in spite of the consequences. That's why for over thirty-five
years I made "going fishing" (TV, videos, tournaments) my business and sole livelihood. Now,
someone must have hit me in the head with a hammer because I have relapsed right back
into the very thing I escaped from many years ago.

By the way, I don't feel all that bad about not being smart enough to understand everything
that goes on. As much as you probably don't won't to, just stop and think about what
happened in Aurora Colorado. With all the constant, round the clock, world-wide news
coverage of the terrible massacre,
not one human being in this world is smart enough
to explain exactly why it happened
.

The smartest brains on earth will spend the next few years trying to determine exactly why
someone, someone that was probably just as smart as them, caused it. At least it appeared
on the coverage by the news that most everyone turned to God for their unanswered
questions and at least that part of the tragedy is good.
If the fact that no one on earth
knows the reason why it happened doesn't make you believe in God, there's
probably nothing short of you personally being involved in such a tragedy that
would.
