Current and Predicted Conditions In The Smokies
If your planning on fishing the Smokies for the next couple of days, you should be
aware of the potential of some strong thunderstorms. Hopefully, you won't
encounter any severe weather or anything like the heartland has experienced for
the last few days but there's always that possibility.
The forecast for Gatlinburg calls for a 70 percent chance of rain tonight and a 60
percent chance for tomorrow. Memorial Day weekend should be nice and mostly
sunny with temperatures reaching almost 90 degrees each day.
All the streams in the Smokies are beginning to run low for this time of the year.
That may change some over the next couple of days.
We recommend you fish the middle to higher elevations. There will be a lot of
visitors in the park for the holiday weekend, so we also suggest you plan on getting
off the roads and the beaten paths at least a short distance. Ninety percent of the
park's visitors will be within a hundred yards of the roads and major trails.
We have several Perfect Fly customers who will be fishing the park this weekend,
some of which will be camping in the backcountry. I hope everyone keeps a close
check on the weather today and tomorrow.
