Enough is Enough
If it wasn't for the Auburn-Oregon football game tonight, I would be about as bored
as a grown man could get. That's the only thing keeping me going. I can't wait to
watch the big game. Other than that, the only thing I have to say is that I'm tired of
this lousy, continuous cold weather.
I've lived most of my life along the coast where it's reasonably warm. Up until now,
I've always enjoyed the change when a cold weather system moves through. Notice I
said moves through. For the past few weeks cold weather hasn't moved through. It
just showed up and stayed.
I have lots of money tied up in extreme cold weather clothing that will prepare you
for much worse weather than we are currently experiencing and I rarely ever use it.
It just hangs in the closet. I have no idea why I bought it. I guess I just like to look at
catalogs and buy stuff I don't really have any use for. Maybe it will be fun to put it on
and just go outside and see if I can completely outdo what Mother Nature has in
store for us today.
I had an appointment with a doctor at UT Hospital this morning but since I can't tell
the road in front of the house from the yard, I don't think I'll be going anywhere. I'm
sure Pigeon Forge crews will clear it pretty soon but I don't want the hassle of
driving to Knoxville dodging other people. The appointment is just for another check
up anyway. In case you young people aren't aware of it, getting old isn't fun. When
you get in your sixties, you may as well move near a medical center.
I thought about writing about cold weather fishing this morning but I have already
done that several times before. My article list is full of articles about cold weather
fishing. Just thinking about "cold" has become so depressing, I'm just not up to it
About a week ago, I posted the entire National Weather Forecast when it was calling
for snow every day for a week. This morning, looking forward to this recent big
weather feature to end, I looked at it again. I'm going to post it again. This is
Today: Snow before noon, then snow, possibly mixed with sleet. High near 31. Calm
wind becoming east around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime
snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Tonight: Snow likely, possibly mixed with freezing rain and sleet. Cloudy, with a low
around 27. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New ice accumulation of
around a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one
Tuesday: A chance of snow showers before 3pm, then a chance of rain and snow
showers. Cloudy, with a high near 36. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west.
Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Tuesday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around
21. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 30.
West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Wednesday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow showers before 1am. Mostly
cloudy, with a low around 14.
Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 28.
Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 11.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 31.
Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 18.
Saturday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 40.
Saturday Night: A chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low
around 27. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Sunday: A chance of rain and snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 43. Chance
of precipitation is 30%.
In other words, it's going to be cold and snow for two or three more days and then
really get cold with lows as low as 11 and highs a low as 28. Then, it is going to
warm up slightly and snow again. That's just wonderful.
I didn't move from Florida to Gatlinburg six years ago for this. I am tired of
the cold weather
I probably made two big mistake during the last 30 days. I turned down two all
expense fly fishing trips for both Angie and I to warm places where the fishing would
be good. One was from a new resort south of Cancoon Mexico that's catering to fly
fishers and the other most recent one, was a three day bone fishing trip in the
Bahamas. I just don't like "free" trips as my recent articles have shown. There's
always something attached you don't find out about until it's too late or something
comes up you didn't quite have a clear understanding about. However, in both of
these cases, I may have made a bad decision hanging around here.
Maybe I'll get out of this state of depression and write something worth reading for
tomorrow. Meantime, WAR EAGLE!
